As per reports, members of the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) commenced a nationwide strike across all 47 counties in Kenya at 0000 hours local time (2100 hours UTC on Sunday, 19 July) on Monday (20 July).

• The union stated that the industrial action was initiated after the Ministry of Health and county governments allegedly failed to address its grievances despite receiving a 21-day demand notice and a subsequent 14-day strike notice.
• The union has directed all clinical officers to participate in the strike and instructed branch officials not to engage in separate county-level negotiations without written authorisation from the national leadership.
