National Citizen Party protested in Comilla on Wednesday (23 April) calling for Awami League prosecution

As per reports, the National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders took out a protest march in Comilla, Chittagong on Wednesday (23 April), demanding visible progress of the Awami League’s prosecution and a ban on the party’s political activities. In addition, the NCP also demanded constitutional reforms and a “gana parishad” (people’s council) election.

• Additionally, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three Awami League leaders in three raids across Dhaka on Wednesday (23 April). The arrested leaders include local and ward-level leaders, who are accused of attempting to revive the Awami League through recent political rallies and processions in Dhaka.
• The NCP held a procession from the Town Hall to Pubali Square at around 1700 hours (local time). Central leaders of the party addressed the rally.
