As per reports, multiple National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week marches are scheduled to take place across Australia on Friday (10 July).
The details are as follows:
• Tamworth, New South Wales: The NAIDOC March will commence at 0915 hours (local time) on Friday (10 July) from Viaduct Park Skate Park on Peel Street in North Tamworth. Participants will march from Viaduct Park to Bicentennial Park, with organisers encouraging attendees to carry Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and participate in the community celebration.
• Adelaide, South Australia: The NAIDOC SA March and Family Festival will be held from 1000 hours to 1530 hours (local time) on Friday (10 July). Participants will assemble at Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) before marching through the Adelaide central business district to the Parliament House Steps, where official welcomes and community addresses by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and leaders will be held.
• Coolangatta, Queensland: A NAIDOC Week march is scheduled from 1000 hours to 1200 hours (local time) on Friday (10 July), beginning at Queen Elizabeth Park on Marine Parade. Participants will proceed along Griffith Street towards the New South Wales border, concluding with a Corroboree at Chris Cunningham Park, adjacent to Twin Towns. Organisers have encouraged participants to wear Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag colours or community shirts. Temporary road restrictions and increased pedestrian activity are expected along Marine Parade, Griffith Street, and surrounding roads during the event.
• Melbourne (Naarm), Victoria: The Naarm NAIDOC Week March will commence at 1200 hours (local time) on Friday (10 July) from the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) on Nicholson Street in Fitzroy. Participants will gather at the VAHS building before proceeding through the surrounding area as part of the annual NAIDOC Week celebrations.
