As per reports, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced significant weekend service changes affecting New York City Subway and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) services beginning Friday (24 July) and continuing through 24 August, as infrastructure improvement works are undertaken.

• The subway disruptions are scheduled to occur from 2330 hours local time (0330 hours UTC) every Friday until 0500 hours local (0900 hours UTC) time every Monday, while LIRR service changes is scheduled to apply over the affected weekends, with normal operations resuming at 0430 hours local time (0830 hours UTC) each Monday.
• As part of the subway works, one train is not scheduled to operate between 14 Street and South Ferry, two trains are scheduled to not operate between 34 Street–Penn Station and Flatbush Avenue–Brooklyn College, and three train services are scheduled to be fully suspended during the affected periods. Additionally, in the Bronx, two trains are scheduled to operate via the 05 line to and from Eastchester–Dyre Avenue, while five trains are scheduled to operate via the 02 line to and from Wakefield–241 Street.
• The LIRR is scheduled to also implement extensive service adjustments to facilitate testing and commissioning of a new signalling system near Elmont–UBS Arena. From 2000 hours local time (0000 hours UTC) on Fridays, Hempstead Branch services will be suspended.
• From 2200 hours local time (0200 hours UTC) on Fridays, Oyster Bay Branch services are also scheduled to be suspended, while Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branch trains will operate only between Hicksville and stations further east. Services on the Babylon and Montauk Branches will operate on modified timetables.
• To mitigate passenger disruption, the MTA is expected to operate replacement shuttle buses between Jamaica and Hempstead and between Jamaica and Oyster Bay, with buses accepting valid LIRR tickets on affected routes.
