As per reports, on Sunday (20 September), Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, remains at Alert Level III after recording 22 eruptions within six hours between midnight and 0600 hours (local time).
15 eruptions were visually observed, producing ash columns reaching 200–800 meters and moving eastward. The continued volcanic activity poses risks from ashfall, hot clouds, lava avalanches and lahars around the mountain and downstream river channels.
