As per reports, the Mannheim-Stuttgart railway line will be closed from midnight on Wednesday (16 April) for seven weeks.
• The closure is due to necessary maintenance work on the Freudenstein Tunnel near Knittlingen, Enzkreis.
• The tunnel has geological issues, with anhydrite rock expanding due to water ingress, causing cracks.
• Rail services, including long-distance, regional, and freight, will be rerouted, leading to delays of up to 40 minutes.
• Some connections on the affected section will be canceled.
• The maintenance work is expected to last until 06 June.
