As per reports, major traffic diversions and road closures will be implemented across central Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday (12 September) for the opening ceremonies and festivities of MTQ Nasional XXXI.
Traffic impacts will occur in two phases: the first beginning at 0700 hours (local time) for the Pawai Ta’aruf parade along the Balai Kota–Tugu Muda–Pandanaran corridor, and the second starting at 1600 hours (local time) with the closure and diversion of vehicle access around Simpang Lima (Lapangan Pancasila).
• Large crowds of MTQ participants, official delegations, local spectators and festival visitors are expected across central Semarang.
• The morning parade will move through the city centre toward Taman Indonesia Kaya, with traffic diversions along the parade corridor.
• From 1600 hours (local time), traffic engineering around Simpang Lima will continue until the opening ceremony concludes, with vehicle access diverted depending on prevailing traffic conditions.
• Ring 1 roads expected to be affected include Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Pandanaran, Jalan Pahlawan, Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Menteri Supeno.
• Vehicles travelling from Bangkong towards Tugu Muda will be diverted at the RRI intersection (Radio Republik Indonesia), while traffic from Tugu Muda towards Bangkong will be diverted at Simpang KFC Pandanaran and Pandanaran intersections 1 and 2.
• Traffic from Jalan P. Diponegoro will be diverted via Rimba Graha and Jalan Pahlawan Fountain.
• Authorities have designated 10 parking areas at Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Gajahmada, Jalan Pahlawan, Taman Indonesia Kaya, Jalan Erlangga, Jalan KH Ahmad Dahlan, Matahari Parking, Baiturrahman Mosque Parking, Ciputra Mall Parking and Wonderia Parking.
