According to reports, a low-pressure system formed in Sarawak waters on Friday (20 December) evening. The Meteorological Department of Malaysia forecast that the intensity of the system could increase to a tropical depression by Sunday (22 December).
On Saturday (21 December), an orange alert for heavy rainfall was issued for parts of Sarawak and a yellow alert for Sebah. The alert will be active till Sunday (22 December). While a warning for strong winds and rough seas will be active till Tuesday (24 December).
