As per reports, according to India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) extended range outlook, a low pressure is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast, on Friday (03 July).
• Most numerical weather prediction models indicate that the upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to develop around Thursday (02 July). Under its influence, a low pressure is expected to form over the north Bay of Bengal between Friday and Saturday (03-04 July).
• The models suggest that the system is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction after its formation.
• The low pressure area could become more marked over the following two to three days as it moves inland.
• The low pressure system may intensify into a depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal around Sunday (05 July).
• However, forecasters have cautioned that there remains considerable uncertainty regarding the exact location of the system and the extent of its intensification.
