As per reports, Commemorative ceremonies marking the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation of Langres are scheduled in Langres, Haute-Marne, on Friday (11 September).
• The events will commemorate the city’s liberation by Allied and French forces on 13 September 1944 and will take place at two locations during the late afternoon and evening.
• The first ceremony will begin at the Captain Baudouin Stele at 1700 hours local time (1500 hours UTC). The programme will include a historical remembrance, an address by Langres Mayor Théo Caviezel, wreath-laying by authorities, the sounding of the Last Post, a minute of silence and the French national anthem.
• Participants will subsequently gather at the Langres fire station at 1800 hours local time (1600 hours UTC) for a second wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a reception. The second commemoration will recognise the role of Langres firefighters in the local resistance and the city’s liberation during the Second World War.
