Landslide warnings issued for areas in Sri Lanka from Sunday till Monday (24-25 May)

According to reports, landslide warnings have been issued for several areas in the island on Sunday evening (24 May) owing to the prevailing heavy rainfall conditions across the country.

The warning issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) will be in effect until 1700 hours (local time) on Monday (25 May).

• An Amber warning has been issued in Kegalle District (Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Ruwanwella, Yatiyanthota) and Ratnapura District (Kuruwita, Ratnapura, Eheliyagoda, Ayagama).
• A Yellow warning has been issued in Colombo District (Seethawaka, Padukka), Gampaha District (Attanagalla), Kalutara District (Palindanuwara, Matugama, Bulathsinhala, Agalawatta, Ingiriya, Horana), Kegalle District (Bulathkohupitiya), Nuwara Eliya District (Ambagamuwa) and Ratnapura District (Kiriella, Pelmadulla, Nivithigala, Elapatha, Kalawana).
