As per reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted as of Saturday (10 May) that the onset of the Southwest monsoon is expected to occur earlier in 2025, likely by 27 May. This is four days prior to the normal onset date of 01 June.

The IMD also stated that satellite images are already indicating dense cloud covers over the Andaman Sea and around Kerala regions.
