As per reports, Prime Minister Georgia Meloni of Italy is expected to visit Tirana on Wednesday (05 June).

• The visit is confirmed by government sources and will coincide with Italian Culture Week in Albania.
• In recent interviews, Prime Minister Meloni emphasized the strategic importance of a project in Albania, aimed at managing migration and addressing refugee issues. It has been theorised that the visit pertains to the same project, although the specific agenda for the visit is yet to be disclosed.
• There has been certain opposition in Italy, to the construction of two immigrant camps in Shengjin and Gjader, which are the result of a memorandum of understanding signed between Italy and Albania on 06 November 2023.
• Additionally, the visit precedes the European Parliament elections scheduled between Thursday (06 June) and Sunday (09 June).
