As per reports, the City of Hamilton is scheduled to commence infrastructure upgrade works at the intersection of Main Street East and Ottawa Street North from Tuesday (07 July).
• Initial activities are expected to involve contractor mobilisation, followed by a full closure of the intersection later in summer 2026, which is expected to remain in effect for approximately four months, subject to weather and construction conditions.
• Reports indicate that the project includes the installation of a new watermain and sewer, road resurfacing, and utility relocations involving Bell and Alectra. The works are intended to renew critical municipal infrastructure, improve long-term road reliability and prepare the corridor for the future Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) system.
