As per reports, fire was reported at a chemical storage tank in an industrial estate in Map Ta Phut, Rayong province at around 1045 hours on Thursday (09 May). One worker was reported dead while five were injured.
• The fire at the petrochemical production plant was brought under control only by 1800 hours after repeated ignitions.
• People from the nearby areas have been evacuated to the Map Ta Phut Pan Pittayakhan School Shelter for the time being.
• Nearby communities including Rayong Province Nong Fap, Ta-Kuan, Ao Pradu have been declared as disaster affected areas and evacuated.
• Power outage in nearby localities have been reported, following the news of the fire.
