The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in the following metro cities, as of Sunday (31 August):

• Mumbai and Pune – Yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning and squall has been issued in Mumbai city, suburban and Pune. Nowcast has issued yellow alert for light rainfall in Mumbai city and suburban. The alert is valid till 1000 hours.
• Delhi and Gurugram – No warnings have been issued for Delhi and Gurugram as per the forecast. However, the nowcast has issued yellow alert for light rainfall, thunderstorms and surface wind with speed less than 40 kmph in Gurugram till 0859 hours. For Delhi, nowcast has issued yellow alert for light rainfall in Southwest Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi, Southeast Delhi.
• Noida – No warnings issued as per forecast but nowcast has issued an orange alert for Noida till 0800 hours. Thunderstorm, lightning with moderate to intense spell of rainfall with wind speed at 30-40 kmph is forecast.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar – A yellow alert has been issued for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds have been forecast. Nowcast has issued orange alert for both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar till 1000 hours. Light thunderstorm with maximum wind speed less than 40 kmph and moderate rainfall is forecast.
• Hyderabad – A yellow alert for strong surface wind has been issued. No warnings have been issued in the nowcast.
• Chennai – A yellow alert for strong surface wind has been issued. Nowcast has issued a yellow alert for light rainfall, valid till 1000 hours.
• Bengaluru – No alert has been issued in the forecast but nowcast has issued yellow alert for light rainfall in Bengaluru urban and rural, valid till 1000 hours.
• Kolkata – A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds. Nowcast has also issued a yellow alert for light thunderstorm with maximum wind speed less than 40 kmph and moderate rainfall. It is valid till 0900 hours.
