The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the indicated weather alerts in the following metro cities, as of Monday (06 July).
• Mumbai and Pune – For Mumbai, an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued in the forecast, and a red alert for heavy rainfall more than 15 millimetres (mm) with gusty winds is active till 0700 hours (local time) as per nowcast. For Pune, a red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued in the forecast, and an orange alert for moderate rainfall between five and 15 millimetres (mm) with gusty winds is active till 0700 hours (local time) as per nowcast.
• Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram – For Delhi, a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast, while no warning has been issued in the nowcast. For Noida, a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast, while a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is active till 0600 hours (local time) as per nowcast. No warning has been issued for Gurugram.
• Bengaluru – No warning has been issued in the forecast or nowcast.
• Hyderabad – A yellow alert for strong surface winds has been in the forecast. No warning has been issued in the nowcast.
• Chennai – No warning has been issued in the forecast or nowcast.
• Kolkata – A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been in the forecast, while nowcast updates are awaited.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar – A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been in the forecast for both cities. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for light rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is active till 0700 hours (local time), as per nowcast.
