The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in some Indian metro cities, as of Monday (04 August). The warnings are as follows:
• Mumbai and Pune – No warning in forecast or nowcast.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar – No warning in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0700 hours, a yellow alert for light rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) is activated for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
• Delhi – No warning in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0700 hours, a yellow alert light of rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) is activated for North Delhi, Central Delhi, Northeast Delhi, Shahadra, East Delhi, Southeast Delhi, New Delhi, and South Delhi.
• Gurugram – A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls has been issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0812 hours.
• Noida – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0900 hours, an orange alert for low cloud to ground lightning probability of less than 30 percent probability of lightning occurrence, and a moderate to intense spell of rainfall is activated for Noida.
• Hyderabad – A yellow alert for strong surface wind is issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0700 hours.
• Chennai – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0700 hours, a yellow alert for light rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) is activated for Chennai.
• Bengaluru – A yellow alert for heavy rainfall and strong surface winds is issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 1300 hours, a yellow alert of light rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) with maximum surface wind speed less than 40 km/h, low cloud to ground lightning probability of less than 30 percent probability of lightning occurrence is activated for Bengaluru.
• Kolkata – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall, along with strong surface winds, is issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0900 hours.
