According to reports, the annual Black Nazarene traslacion procession is set to take place in Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, (09 January). Authorities in Cagayan de Oro, along with other areas in Northern Mindanao, are implementing comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of this significant religious event. This plan encompasses various measures, including the jamming of mobile phone communications from 0500 to 0800 hours, stringent vehicle checks at mobile checkpoints, discouragement of backpacks and hats during the procession, and the deployment of police officers to enforce these regulations.
Additionally, vendors in specified areas will be restricted, and a strict no-parking zone will be enforced around the cathedral and parish church to streamline the procession and enhance safety. These precautions aim to ensure a secure and smooth flow of the annual Black Nazarene procession, responding to the event’s significance and the expected participation of thousands of devotees.
