As per reports, the following are the latest updates regarding dengue cases reported in Chennai as of Tuesday (15 September):
• More than 2,000 people have reported fever symptoms across Chennai and its suburban areas throughout mid-September. Of these, 140 dengue cases have been confirmed between Tuesday-Thursday (01-10 September).
• The proportion of dengue infections among people reporting fever has increased in September as compared to August, indicating a rise in dengue activity across the city and suburbs. Around 4,500 people reported fever symptoms in Chennai during August, of whom 160 were diagnosed with dengue.
• The increase has been particularly noticeable in areas coming under the Adyar, Anna Nagar and Valasaravakkam zones, which have emerged as major dengue hotspots.
