The National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, has issued an inclement weather forecast for Fiji on Thursday (18 December), citing the influence of a slow-moving trough of low pressure north of the country, combined with a moist southeast wind flow.
Forecasts indicate occasional showers with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, particularly affecting the eastern and interior parts of Vanua Levu and Viti Levu, as well as the Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti island groups.
• The heavy rain alert previously in force for the Northern Division, Yasawa Group, Northern Lau and Lomaiviti Groups has been cancelled.
• The flash flood alert previously issued for the entire Fiji Group has also been cancelled.
