As per reports, on Thursday (20 November), Hong Kong has recorded one new imported case of chikungunya fever involving an individual residing in Kwai Tsing District. The patient had recently travelled to Shenzhen and later developed symptoms consistent with chikungunya infection.
According to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), preliminary investigations indicate that the patient likely contracted the virus during his travel to Shenzhen. The case has been classified as an imported infection and will be reported to the Guangdong Provincial Health Authority.
