As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert for thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by hailstorms was issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli Saturday (16 March).
