The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following weather warnings in Andhra Pradesh from Thursday to Monday (02-06 October):
• Thursday (02 October): A red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, squall, and strong surface wind has been issued for Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam. An orange alert for very heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, squall, and strong surface wind has been issued for Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharamaraju, Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari and Eluru. A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall, and strong surface wind has been issued for the remaining districts.
• As per the IMD Nowcast warnings vaild until 2200 hours on Thursday (02 October), a yellow alert for light rainfall less than five millimetres per hour (mm/hr) has been issued for Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharamaraju. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for light rainfall less than five mm/hr and light thunderstorms with maximum surface winds less than 40 kilometres per hour (kmph) has been issued for Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Sri Sathyasai, Tirupathi and Chittoor.
• Friday (03 October): An orange alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds has been issued for Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharamaraju, Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari and Eluru. A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds has been issued for the remaining districts.
• From Saturday to Sunday (04-05 October), a yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds has been largely issued for all districts of the state.
• Monday (06 September): A yellow alert for strong surface winds has been issued for all districts.
