The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert in parts of Punjab on Monday (25 August). Several infrastructural damages have also been reported due to continuous rainfall.
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm for Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Moga, Barnala and Sangrur on Monday (25 August).
• Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm have been issued for Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawashahr, Rupnagar, Firozpur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.
• A section on the National Highway-03 caved in on Monday (25 August) in Kandi area of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab amid heavy rainfall.
• Another stretch measuring nearly about 30-40 feet near the Jalalian drain was also reportedly washed away, disrupting traffic movement.
• Several damages have been reported at the Sangrur-Bathinda-Chandigarh main national highway resulting in a road accident at around 0300 hours on Monday (25 August).
