IMD issues orange, yellow alerts for rainfall across Kerala on Friday (25 October)

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alerts for very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning on Friday (25 October) for the districts of Idukki and Pathanamthitta. It has also issued yellow alerts for all remaining districts of the state for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is in forecast.

Initially, orange alerts were also issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Thrissur, however these have subsequently been downgraded to yellow. The Kottayam District Administration has imposed restrictions that will remain in effect until Saturday (26 October). Accordingly, entry into tourist spots like Ilaveezhapoonchira and Illikkal Kallu, night travel on the Erattupetta-Vagamon road and in other hilly areas, and mining activities have been temporarily suspended.
