The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for thunderstorms and lightning across parts of Assam from Thursday (17 April) to Saturday (19 April):
• For Thursday to Saturday (17-19 April), an orange alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in the areas of Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj.
• For Thursday (17 April), a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in the areas of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mancachar, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Barpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Udalguri, Sonitpur, West Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.
• For Friday (18 April), a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in the areas of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mancachar, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Darrang, Kamrup Rural, Chirang, Barpeta, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.
• For Saturday (19 April), a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in the areas of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mancachar, Bongaigaon and Goalpara.
