The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls across various districts of Maharashtra on Friday (29 August).

On Friday (29 August), orange alerts have been issued in Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur (Ghats regions), Latur, Osmanabad (Dharashiv), Hingoli, Parbhani, Yavatmal, Nanded and Gadchiroli. Yellow alerts have been issued in all other districts, including Mumbai (City and Suburban) and Thane.
