The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning stating that cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to continue over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan until Sunday (07 January) and significantly decrease thereafter.
• In Delhi a yellow alert for cold day and fog is active across all the regions until Monday (08 January).
• In Punjab, orange alert for cold day and fog is active in Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib while a yellow alert is active in all the remaining districts on Saturday (06 January) and Sunday (07 January). For Monday (08 January), orange alert for cold day and fog is active in Amritsar while a yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.
• In Haryana, orange alert for cold day and fog has been issued in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal while yellow alert is active in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, Hisar, Rohtak, Panipat and Sonipat for Saturday (06 January) and Sunday (07 January). For Monday (08 January), yellow alert for fog is active in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal.
• Meanwhile, a yellow alert for fog has been issued in Chandigarh until Monday (08 January).
• In Rajasthan, orange alert for cold day and fog is active in Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur while a yellow alert is active in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Kota and Baran on Saturday (06 January). For Sunday (07 January) ornage alert is active only in Churu while yellow alert is active in Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Bikaner, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Kota, Baran and Jhalawar on Sunday (07 January).
