The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts in Himachal Pradesh on Monday (25 August).

The details are as follows:

• Orange alert for very heavy rainfall issued in Chamba, Kangra, Hamirpur, and Mandi. Yellow alert for heavy rainfall issued in Lahul and Spiti, Kullu, Una, and Bilaspur. The rest of the districts have no active alerts.
• As per the IMD nowcast, valid till 1200 hours, all districts except Sirmaur and Kinnaur are under an active orange alert for light thunderstorms and moderate rainfall. Sirmaur and Kinnaur are under an active yellow alert for moderate rainfall.
• Educational institutions have been closed in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, and Solan districts.
