As per reports, Caltrans is scheduled to implement overnight and weekend closures on US Highway 101 in San Francisco and San Rafael from Friday (18 September) as part of separate road rehabilitation and structural improvement projects.
• In San Francisco, all northbound lanes and one southbound lane of US 101 between Cesar Chavez Street and 17th Street are scheduled to close from 2300 hours local time on Friday (18 September) (0600 hours UTC on 19 September) to 0600 hours local time (1300 hours UTC) on Monday (21 September).
• Reports indicate that the San Francisco closure forms part of the Fab 4 Hospital Curve Rehabilitation Project. Three southbound lanes are scheduled to remain open throughout the closure period.
• Reports indicate that motorists travelling northbound through San Francisco are advised to use Interstate 280 as an alternative route, including for journeys towards downtown San Francisco and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Public transport is also recommended by Caltrans to avoid work-zone delays.
• In San Rafael, northbound US 101 lanes at the Harbor Bridge are scheduled to close overnight from 2300 hours local time (0600 hours UTC) to 0600 hours local time (1300 hours UTC) from Friday (18 September) to Sunday (20 September), with at least one northbound lane remaining open.
• The northbound US 101 off-ramp to 2nd Street is also scheduled for partial closure during the same period.
• The San Rafael works form part of a structural improvement project involving installation of steel shims beneath the Harbor Bridge and application of polyester concrete to restore the roadway profile.
