According to reports, the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport has announced an immediate ban on heavy vehicles between Ou Snguot and Tuek Thla City Bypass on National Road 5 in Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, on Thursday (01 October).
• The measure follows heavy rainfall and floodwaters flowing in from Thailand, which have inundated homes and infrastructure in Serei Saophoan City and Mongkol Borei District.
• The restriction is meant to prevent road damage and collapse and to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. Technical teams have been deployed around the clock to monitor the situation and manage traffic.
• Transport companies and heavy-vehicle drivers have been urged to suspend travel or use alternative routes until further notice. The ban will remain in force until the flood situation subsides and a new announcement is issued.
