As per reports, heavy rainfall is forecast to continue across the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam until Wednesday (01 July) due to a low-pressure trough and upper-level wind convergence.
• Rainfall of 50–120 millimetres (mm) is expected, with isolated areas likely to receive more than 300 mm. Authorities have warned of an increased risk of flash floods, landslides and rising water levels on small rivers, especially in Lang Son, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La and Phu Tho. Water levels on small rivers may rise by 2–4 metres, reaching Alert Level 01 or 02.
• Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak are expected to experience widespread hot weather, with daytime temperatures reaching 35–37 degrees Celsius and exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some areas, followed by scattered thunderstorms and localized heavy rainfall during the afternoon and evening.
• Hanoi is also expected to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with isolated very heavy rainfall. Additionally, marine areas from Ca Mau to An Giang, as well as the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa waters, are forecast to experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds, rough seas, and a risk of tornadoes.
