Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm forecast across parts of Vietnam from Wednesday to Thursday (20-21 May)

As per the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast across northern parts of Vietnam, including the Northeast region, southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, from Wednesday (20 May) through Thursday (21 May).

• Forecast rainfall accumulation during the advisory period is expected to range between 50 millimeters and 150 millimeters, with isolated areas likely to record more than 300 millimeters of rainfall.
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue across parts of Northern Vietnam, while scattered thunderstorms are forecast across Southern Vietnam during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday (20 May).
• In the Central Highlands and southern regions, cloudy conditions with thunderstorms and scattered rainfall are forecast during the afternoon and evening, with heavy to very heavy rainfall anticipated in isolated areas.
• Other regions are also expected to experience scattered rainfall and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall during evening hours.
• In Hanoi, cloudy conditions with moderate rainfall and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall are forecast. Temperatures are expected to range between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius.
• The Northwest region is forecast to experience cloudy conditions with showers and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Temperatures are expected to range between 23 and 34 degrees Celsius.
• The Northeast region is expected to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with isolated very heavy rainfall. Temperatures are forecast between 23 and 32 degrees Celsius.
• From Thanh Hoa to Hue, northern areas are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with isolated very heavy rainfall, while southern areas are expected to experience scattered rainfall. Temperatures are forecast between 25 and 34 degrees Celsius.
• The South Central coastal region is forecast to experience cloudy conditions with thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall. Temperatures are expected to range between 24 and 34 degrees Celsius.
• The Central Highlands are expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, with temperatures between 21 and 32 degrees Celsius.
• Southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, is forecast to experience rainfall and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Temperatures are expected to range between 25 and 34 degrees Celsius, while Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to record temperatures between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius.
