As per reports, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground stop at Chicago O’Hare International Airport due to the presence of severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms and a tornado watch in the region on Thursday (15 May).
• The ground stop is preventing all inbound flights from departing for O’Hare for at least one hour with an initial extension possible depending on weather developments.
• Severe weather alerts include the potential for tornadoes, hail up to three inches in diameter, and wind gusts exceeding 70 miles per hour.
• Other airports across the Midwest region, including Minneapolis, are also experiencing weather-related delays and disruptions, especially due to gusty winds and storm activity.
