As per reports, traffic congestion was reported across seven sub-districts in Padang, West Sumatra, on Tuesday (07 July) due to long queues of vehicles waiting to purchase subsidized Bio Diesel (Bio Solar) at fuel stations.
The congestion has intensified with queues forming from approximately 0900 hours (local time) each day as commercial vehicles and diesel-powered transport operators gathered at subsidized fuel outlets.
• At approximately 1150 hours (local time) on Tuesday (07 July), queues of commercial trucks along the Bypass Highway in Kuranji sub-district extended for more than one kilometre, obstructing major intersections and reducing road capacity.
• Similar congestion was reported along Jalan Khatib Sulaiman in North Padang, one of the city’s principal commercial and administrative corridors, where high demand at two operational fuel stations resulted in heavy trucks and logistics vehicles occupying active traffic lanes.
• The prolonged queues significantly slowed vehicle movement, causing gridlock on key commuter routes. Local motorists reported extended travel times, while several diesel vehicle owners spent hours searching for fuel at stations with available subsidized diesel supplies.
