As per reports, the Fridays for Future environment group has called for protests across the country on Friday (31 May) ahead of the European Union elections to be held on 09 June.
• The climate activists want to draw attention to the importance of the EU in tackling the climate crisis.
• The group is calling for an EU-wide phase-out of coal, oil and gas by 2035 and a doubling of investments in renewable energies and climate-neutral industries.
• In Bonn, organizers are expecting up to 1,000 participants for a march that begins at 1600 hours local time. The march is expected to end at 2000 hours local time at Münsterplatz.
• In Berlin, the protest is scheduled to start at 1230 hours local time at the Brandenburg Gate.
• In Frankfurt, the protest is scheduled at 1600 hours local time at the Alte Oper.
• In Hamburg, the protest is scheduled at 1400 hours local time at the Glacischaussee.
• In Dusseldorf, the strike is scheduled at 1500 hours local time at the Schadowplatz.
• In Munich, demonstrations are expected at about 1400 hours local time at the Königsplatz.
