French rail switchers to strike on Friday (23 February) and Saturday (24 February)

As per reports, the Sud-Rail union has called for a strike action of rail switchers from 1100 hours (local time) on Friday (23 February) till 2300 hours (local time) on Saturday (24 February), over working conditions and pay.

• The strike is expected to affect all National Company of the French Railways (SNCF) Réseau Infrastructure Operations Establishments, which include the switchers.
• The workers are demanding revaluation of the operational traffic allowance of up to EUR 300 per month, as well as better working conditions in terms of increased hiring to deal with problems of understaffing.
