Foresters protest scheduled in Bucharest on Wednesday (19 March)

As per reports, the Federation of Forestry Unions Silva is organizing a large rally in Bucharest on Wednesday (19 March) from 1000 hours to 1400 hours (local time), in response to recent government measures affecting forestry employees.

• The government has implemented salary reductions and removed certain benefits for forestry personnel through Emergency Ordinances (GEO) 4/2025 and 14/2025, impacting approximately 25,000 workers in the sector.
• Key changes include a 25 percent salary reduction from 01 January 2025, the removal of a retirement gratuity, and restrictions on firewood allowances based on income criteria.
• The affected employees work across various forestry-related institutions, including the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, research institutes, forestry faculties, RNP Romsilva, state and private forestry departments, conservation organizations, and companies in the forestry sector.
