According to reports, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that the flood that inundated 10 villages and sub-districts in Pitumpanua District, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi had receded on Thursday morning (08 August). Previously, floods up to 120 centimeters high had inundated this area since Tuesday (06 August)
• BNPB stated that the flood started from high-intensity rain that impacted Wajo Regency since Saturday (03 August) causing the Awo River and Siwa River to be unable to accommodate the water discharge so that it overflowed into residential areas.
• The flood first occurred on Saturday (03 August) but receded quickly. However, the rainfall throughout the day caused the river water to rise again on Tuesday (06 August). This incident affected 10,752 people and submerged 3,173 houses.
• The 10 areas affected by the flood include Lompolong Village, Kaluku, Alesilurung, Jauh Pandang, Tanrongi, Lacinde, Tobarakka Village, Benteng, Bulete, and Siwa.
