As per reports, a severe storm caused significant disruptions at Palma de Mallorca Airport during the afternoon hours of Tuesday (11 June), temporarily halting all flight operations. Flooding affected various parts of the airport, including access roads, parking lots, and terminal areas. Several incoming flights were diverted to Barcelona and Ibiza.
While operations resumed after an hour of total closure, delays and cancellations are expected to continue into the evening.
• Data provided by the Spanish weather service (AEMET) stated that over 43 liters of water per square meter fell in Palma in a single hour, accounting for nearly a tenth of the city’s annual rainfall.
• Orange warnings for inclement weather was issued for the regions of Mallorca on Tuesday (11 June).
• Yellow warnings for moderate rainfall has been issued for Andalucía, Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Cataluña, Región de Murcia, and Comunitat Valenciana for Wednesday (12 June).
