As per reports, a large-scale protest by fishermen was held in Pati, Central Java, on Monday (04 May), led by the Pati Regency Large-Scale Fishermen’s Communication Forum against the increase in non-subsidized diesel fuel prices.
• The demonstration was staged in front of the Pati Regent’s Office, while the Alun-Alun Pati (town square) area was temporarily closed from 0800 hours (local time) to facilitate security operations and traffic management.
• Authorities deployed approximately 1,700 personnel to secure the gathering. Protesters were reportedly expected to travel from Juwana to central Pati via the Juwana–Pati Pantura road, with attendance estimates of around 5,000 people.
• Police stated that traffic diversions were implemented around the town square and surrounding roads during the protest period.
