First case of HMP Virus detected in Bengaluru on Monday (06 January)

As per reports, an eight-month-old baby admitted to a Bengaluru hospital has tested positive for the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), marking the first reported case in the country. The hospital has implemented containment measures, including isolating the affected patient and monitoring those who may have been exposed. Healthcare authorities have issued an alert, urging vigilance among medical professionals and citizens.

The virus, which primarily affects the respiratory system, can lead to symptoms ranging from mild cold-like issues to severe respiratory infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
