As per reports, the Madison Fire Department (MFD) reported that multiple witnesses observed a lightning strike before a fire broke out at the steeple of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Madison on the morning of Friday (24 May).
• Firefighters worked for over an hour to fully extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported; however, the steeple sustained significant water damage.
• As of 1341 hours (local time), MFD reported that the department’s fire investigation team remains on scene, working to confirm whether the fire was indeed caused by a lightning strike.
