As per reports, a fire occurred at Universal Scrap Metals warehouse in 2500 West Fulton Street around 2100 hours (local time) on Saturday (02 March).

A team of 120 firefighters was actively engaged in combating a substantial warehouse fire, which was fueled by gas. According to fire officials, efforts were underway by Peoples Gas to terminate the gas supply that was feeding the fire. Around 0400 hours (local time) on Sunday (03 March) the gas supply was shut off.

• Construction equipment has been deployed to clear the debris from the broken walls and other infrastructure, following the collapse of several sections of the building. Green flames were also visible, which indicates the presence of copper in the blaze.
• According to the latest update from the Chicago Fire Department, there have been no reported injuries in relation to the ongoing warehouse fire. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
• As of 1700 hours local time, firefighting operations are still actively underway, as per the most recent information via the department’s official Twitter account.
