Farmer gathering over transmission line compensation reported in Jamnagar on Wednesday (30 September)

Risk level: Low Country: India

As per reports, farmers affected by transmission line and tower construction in Jamnagar District submitted a representation to the District Magistrate and District Collector on Wednesday (30 September), seeking corrections to land records and full compensation for land affected by transmission infrastructure.

• The farmers alleged that the transmission company did not provide prior notice or written information regarding the determination of market value and that the legally required 14-day notice period was not provided.
• They have sought compensation under the provisions of the Electricity Act and the Telegraph Act, 1885, for losses associated with the installation of transmission lines and towers.
• The farmers also objected to the Energy Department resolution dated 04 July 2026 and related guidelines issued on 31 July 2026, stating that these do not provide for full compensation.
• The representation raised concerns over complaints allegedly filed by the transmission company against affected farmers and called for such action to be stopped.
• The farmers have requested cancellation of the Collector’s notice concerning market-value compensation until errors in the affected land records are corrected.
