As per reports, a Flash Flood Emergency was issued in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, at 1347 hours (local time) on Tuesday (29 September) after operators reported the imminent failure of McLeod Dam. Evacuation orders were issued for residents in Garfield and Salem, with residents in low-lying areas advised to move to higher ground.
The affected area includes portions of Highways 187 and 390, as well as the Garfield Drain, Garfield Canal and other drainage infrastructure. The emergency was initially set to remain in effect until 1645 hours (local time).
