Evacuation alert issued in Fort McMurray area due to wildfires as of Sunday (12 May)

As per reports, an evacuation alert has been issued in the Fort McMurray area, Alberta, due to active wildfires reported as of Sunday (12 May).

• Environment Canada stated that smoke from fires in northeastern British Columbia is expected to impact over much of the province, including Calgary and Edmonton.
• Harmful smoke is expected to continue hovering over parts of northwestern Alberta until Tuesday (14 May).
• The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is under an evacuation alert due to the wildfire.
• Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued air quality statements for most of Alberta as of Sunday (12 May).
