As per reports, an encounter between security forces and terrorists was reported in the Nader and Tral area of Awantipora on Thursday (15 May). The police have further stated that the gunfight erupted in Nadar Lorgam village of Tral in Awantipora after a joint team of the Army, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation based on “specific intelligence inputs” about militant presence.

As a result, one unidentified terrorist believed to be associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was neutralized in the ensuing gunfight, and the security forces continue to maintain tight cordon around the area.
