Elementary teachers announces state-wide protest on Thursday (04 January)

As per reports, the members of the Tamil Nadu Elementary School Teachers’ Federation have announced a State-wide protest in all education blocks on Thursday (04 January), in protest against Government Order 48A, specifically opposing its guidelines regarding the promotion and transfer of elementary education teachers. The federation claims that this order was issued without consulting or seeking opinions from elementary teachers in the state. Members argue that the new order will hinder rightful promotions or transfers for elementary teachers and further held that the emphasis on seniority and the requirement for teachers to become headmasters or mistresses for promotion would significantly setback elementary teachers.
